Calls For Pardew To Be Sacked!

By Tyne-Talk
November 28 2012

Newcastle United have just lost their 4th consecutive Premier League game, for the first time since 2008. Defeats against, West Ham, Swansea, Southampton and now Stoke City have seen the side tumble down the table with just a point seperating them from the bottom 3.

In a fortnight where Roberto Di Matteo and Mark Hughes have both been sacked, Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter calling for Pardew to go. Comments referring to his 8 year contract and how he shouldn’t even be there another 8 days have popped up, whilst others offer the timely reminder that the last time the side lost 4 consecutive games was the season the club were relegated.

Surely sacking Pardew is not an option right now? Mike Ashley’s long term plan is to have a manager at the club who can provide stability. Pardew has, until now, provided that.

Newcastle currently have 7 injured players, with Ryan Taylor, Haris Vuckic, Shola Ameobi, Yohan Cabaye, Dan Gosling, Hatem Ben Arfa and Gabriel Obertan all unavailable and James Perch picking up a knock tonight, ahead of eventually being subsutited off. (Regardless of which he is now suspended for Monday’s game).

Whilst tactical decisions may currently be poor, the side is not at full strength and Pardew cannot be blamed of the number of injuries we are carrying.

Things do need to change at Newcastle, but tonight’s performance was, overall, better than recent efforts. Sacking the manager is not in the best interest of the club, it would be a rash decision to make with little or no thought put into it and then where would the side be?

Yes we have got injuries but even when them players were playing we were still getting beat. He's got a player called Marveaux that shows quality touches and set pieces which could easily create goals left on the bench. Instead goes with Guiterez who brings nothing last year 433 we were ripping teams apart this year he's scared to change it and keeps playing two strikers he is clueless we need a manager with a football brain to take over before its to late.

Aggaz.......so, hypothetically you choose to sack Pardew who with this magical footballing brain would you replace him with?

Last season no one wanted to sack Pardew because he didn't have any managerial skills.....just putting it out there.

Bye bye alan!, not that i want to see him go really!!!, but think of this.......... he had an over average season with west ham, taking them to the fa cup final and a top half finish. He then could'nt motivate them the next season and what do you know hes away before the end of the season leaving them in loads of @#$%&!! yes ashleys to blame as well as he did'nt support him in the summer but @#$%& me!!, 1 first team signing in 'anita' come on folks!! i love newcastle and ashley thought he was in the casino in the summer with the transfer window but we've been found out and so has pardew!! he over talks with nothing to show for it! i do feel sorry for him but hes had his crack at a big club and he like all of us knows its falling away!!!

Pardew can't and won't be sacked. Ashley has one of the biggest egos in the world, how would it look if he sacked someone he handed an 8 year contract to just a few months ago?

That aside, they need to shake things up. We've lost 4 games on the bounce that should have given us at least 9 points realistically. It is constantly the same tactics which are failing. How can we have gone 14 months without scoring from a corner? We have two powerhouse strikers, people say they can't play together but that's utter rubbish. What stops them from scoring is the fact that we don't create any chances for them!! There is no creativity in midfield whatsoever. Jonas, Anita, Tiote and Perch played in midfield tonight, which of those is going to pick out a killer pass or whip in a cross that's begging to be scored? Ben Arfa and Cabaye are our only creative midfielders and without them we have no link to our strikers apart from a long ball up. A defensive midfield would work fine if we could nick a goal and then sit on a clean sheet but we can't do that when the right side of our defence (Williamson and Simpson) continually let us down. We're paying the price for a squad built up with bargain price players, Williamson and Simpson just aren't good enough I'm afraid.

How can you's defend Pardew after this season look at his career at managerial level done nothing at all. We try our hardest to qualify for europe last season to then moan they play 2 days a week poor players 180 mins of work a week for 30,000. And ashley isnt gonna be spending in January so he has to work with the players he has got and his tactics are@#$%&Long ball

Pardew has had one decent season and his second season has been a nightmare, funny I have seen him do that somewhere else, Southhampton, Charlton, West Ham all spring to mind.

His tactics are a joke, he is too scared to put Ba on the wing again as he did last season when we scored loads of goals, cos he thinks it will upset him and he will leave.

He is Ashley's puppet and I wont miss him.

See ya Alan.

Geez, we toon fans are a fickle bunch, but sacking the manager hardly ever works for any team long term... We did it before relegation, so I think sascking the manager is the WORST thing to do. Its the players that are to blame for me, they are lacking that hard work ethic from last year.

But I agree with one fan saying that 'Guiterez'is shiite... Need another HBA in the team, because they win you games... Gaston Ramirez beat us last sunday single handedly, but those players cost money, so dust off the cheque book and sign at least one world class playermaker...

I do not want to see Alan Pardew go, but someone in this blog is completly right . .. the trouble has stated since Ba has been moved of from the wing .. hence no goals from Cisse . It seems to have distrupted the whole teamn set up .
I am sorry but the only way that Toon can be in the reckoning again is for Ba to go on the wing, and supply balls to Cisse . Otherwise its relegation all over again. if it means Ba leaves in January so be it .

I was disappointed when we appointed Padew as I have never rated him as a top class manager. Let's not forget this squad is the best we've assembled since Sir Bobby, and it's a squad full of international players. Yes they were bargain players and well done to Mr Carr for that, but they are also very good players. They haven't suddenly become bad players.

Did we over-achieve last season? May be yes considering no one expected us to be challenging for a top 4 position, but no becuase our squad on paper, is stronger than most, if not the strongest outside man C, United, Chelsea, Tottenham and possibly Arsenal. We could've finished higher with better tactics considering the gap we'd built up.

What Padew is good at is making the players work harder for each other, and that's a good thing. Unfortunately he lacks a tactical mind and no desrespect to the likes of Carver and Stone but I dont think they are master tacticians either. Most will recall that we lost every game the opposition scored first last season(if memory serves me right)). Whilst that's not a problem in itself what was also obvious was that our tactics remained the same throughout. There seems to be no plan B.

Another thing is we finished 5th and then stood still, investing in midfielders when it was obvious to novice fans that we needed at least two experienced defenders.
If Padew wasn't Ashley's puppet he'd have been on Ashley's door bugging him to get at least one experienced defender in.We cannot even dream of being a top four team if we cannot keep a clean sheet against the so called average teams.
Anyway, we were playing@#$%&football even before the injuries set in, it's just become more of a convenient excuse now. I have respect for Padew as a manager, I just don't think he will be the person to take us to the next level, just because he lacks the tactical mind to get the better of top managers on a consistent level.

I would love it if we had David Moyes as I think he is one manager who is honest, makes no excuses, can work with limited resources and get the best of under-performing players. But unfortunately I cant see that happening as I dont think he would work with Ashley.

ONCE AGAIN NUFC ARE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE COUNTRY! This is what I was hearing today at work (I don't reside any longer in the NE). My friends laugh not at the team but at the famed Toon Army for suggesting/demanding the sacking of Pardew (with an "r") when their team, bereft of 7 of its squad including 4 recognised top performers is going through a bad patch. I have to say I am embarrassed by the ridiculousness of it all. How many managers have we had and how much success? Stability is what is required but don't allow the dislike of Pardew to get in the way of a sensible (supportive) response to the difficulties we face.
I had to smile at the mention of David Moyes. Everton, until this season, have never started playing until after Christmas. Would Moyes have lasted that long at Newcastle?
Come on - take a deep breath and get behind the team. We do have a talented team of International players, and remember - Newcastle United has never been an easy ride.

Ridiculous wanting Pardew sacked, especially after last season. We're having a blip, that is all. It's his first blip since he came as manager, every manager has one. He'll sort it out, have a little faith. You can't judge every manager on their past record - Martin O'Neill's past record is counting for very little at SAFC at the moment isn't it? We do need to stengthen in January, and i'm sure we will. I think the main problem is that Ba complained about playing wide left last season, leaving Cisse in the middle, so Pardew "promised" to play him through the middle more, but it just isn't working. ba needs to play for the team more and if asked to do a job playing wide then he should just do it. With all players fully fit i'd play 4-3-1-2 with Ben Arfa playing behind Ba and Cisse.

Pardew should stay on, to call for him to be sacked is a disgrace imo.

Honestly how would sacking him make things any better? Do you guys calling for him to be sacked remember how we ended up in the mess we were a few years back?

A change in playing personnel if injurys allow it would be better or even better switch back to 4-3-3.

Reading through all of the posts All is clear. Graham Carr was the reason we done so well last season. Yes our forwards should play where they are told (payed enough) and yes they have been found out. Sacking Pardew may not be the answer but he needs to change his tactics and give these players a kick up the backside! Could it be that these players are doing what all so called good Premier footballers do, think they are bigger and better than our club.

Re: Calls For Pardew To Be Sacked!

Well I expected some might not agree and yes we've had a lot of managers, but Padew will never take this club to the next level. Fact.

The problem we have at Newcastle is we've had so much upheaval in recent years coming fifth was such an achievement now we feel we have to stick with Padew, because he represents a bit of stability that we've lacked. Chelsea by way of example, and more ambition change managers on a seasonal basis but more trophies than Man U since Abramovic arrived tells you the means justifies the ends.

I was against Padew's appointment and coming 5th last season didnt change anything for me. He is tactically inept and sticking with him and worse still awarding him an 8 year contract shows a lack of ambition, considering his average CV.

Those advocating with stick with him have obviously not followed his career closely. He's mid-table manager and as I said before we finished higher because IMO we have a good squad of players and strikers who can score goals for fun. Now Padew does not even know what formation to play upfront. The short-sightedness of all concerned to stay still in the summer transfer window means we are definitely in a relegation scrap rather than fighting for the top four. funny that when it became obvious our defence needed strengthening especially in light of the the walloping we recieved at Tottenham and Mighty Wigan!

Tony Toon, you appear to have slight on David Moyes? IMO he is the best manager outside of Ferguson and Wenger and possibly O'Neil. The man has been operating on a shoestring budget and has done it for years.Everton have consistently finished in the top 8 since 2006 despite spending only a fraction of what others spend on players. Given a bit of money it's obvious what he can do, but like I said I cant see him working with the likes of Ashley.

Dont get me wrong I like some of the things that Ashley has done in terms of running the club properly as a business, but he's not a football man and it's obvious his primary goal is to make money for himself first. He appointed Padew primarily because Padew will not challenge him.
Padew for his part is just happy to have a job after a spell being unemployed. There were other candidates worthy of an 8 year contract, who would have finished higher than 5th with this set of players, but Ashley wanted a yes man.

what managers would have had us finish above 5th last season?

Chelsea have bought all of those titles and cups which we simply cant do!

How can you put O'Neil in the same sentance as Ferguson and wenger?

maybe we would be playing 4-3-3 this season but who do you play in the centre of midfield with cabaye and tiote, we brought in anita to play in the centre which would have made a top central threesome, tiote and anita playing deep with cabaye more advanced supplying the forwards, unfortunately Anita hasn't adapted to the premier league yet, bigi is a future prospect, jonas played well there last season but has shown this season he's better out wide and perch has needed to be used elsewhere!

Re: Calls For Pardew To Be Sacked!

Date: 03/12/2012 10:09

Well, Moyes would have finished higher with this set of players but I dont want to bore everyone with this. He has after all taken Everton to fourth position on a shoe string budget.
I dont expect many will agree with me and I hope we win tonight, but some folk have been blinded by the 5th place finish last season. Well that was last season and I believe that is Padew's best ever finish in the Premier league. I suppose proof will be in the pudding. I hope I dont have to say I told you so!

I'm sorry, but really who are we likely to get that is any better?

Do you think Pep and Jose are sitting at home really hoping we give them a call?

We sack managers ridiculously early, I was not a fan of Pardew, but under the current circumstances I honestly don't see anyone else doing any better.

Instead of sacking managers at the drop of a hat lets try and give this one a decent go.

I honestly believe this season the fault lies with Ashley, and his penny pinching over the summer, anyone would struggle with the injuries and suspensions we are currently experiencing.

I remember idiots wanting Robson out for finishing 5th, well that went so well we still haven't recovered.

Re: Calls For Pardew To Be Sacked!
Posted by: Gizza (IP Logged)

Yes Pardew is definitely the man to take us forward. We did very well today, we matched Brighton for the first half hour. If Shola hadn't been sent off who knows, we might have kept the scoreline down to a respectable 1-0.

We've won two games in the past few weeks and I'm sure that once we get all our players back from injury we'll win another one or two before the end of the season. If we keep hoofing those long balls up we're bound to score from a couple sooner or later.

I like Pardew's straight talking approach. He doesn't give us any waffle or try to fob us off with excuses. He doesn't make any false promises about transfers, if he says we're going to be signing players then you can trust him 100% and the same goes when he says we're not going to be selling our best players.

He was right when he said we'll cope without Demba Ba too. The Ameobi brothers were outstanding today as was Nile Ranger who on his return to the first team is as good as a new signing. Why waste £10 million on Loic Remy when we've already got such a wealth of striking talent at the club.

Pardew is undoubtedly the best manager I've seen in my 40 years of supporting this club. His long ball game is much better suited to this club than the passing game we saw under the likes of Keegan and SBR. I'm just so relieved we got rid of the useless Chris Hughton to bring in Pardew. I dread to think where would we be now if Hughton was still here....just look at Norwich. Pardew just needs time to get players back from injury and get his strongest team out, it's too early to judge him yet. I just can't believe some Newcastle fans are calling for Pardew to go nor can I understand why fans of West Ham and Charlton don't seem to rate him.

Re: Calls For Pardew To Be Sacked!

I back him 100% He fielded the only team he had today.

I was watching Sky sports news befor the game and Phil Thompson was saying he just couldn't understand why he didn't field his stronger players. He obviously has limited knowledge and had no idea that they were our only players available.

Pardew said after the game (and its true) he played players today who shouldnt even be in the newcastle united team - they should be in the youth academy training.

But he had no choice - he doesn't have 11 first team players available nor does he have a bench to name without calling on the kids.

He was also not responsible for Shola being sent off leaving us with 10 men.

End of Jan we should have our key players back. (next week we will have a few).

Sacking Pardew would be a joke.

Sack him and get who exactly? Spoil the most stable time the club has had in years for what and why ? Because we are missing way too many players through injuries and suspension ?

Pardew is doing his best with what is available week in week out, when was the last time we fielded a full strenght team this season ?

Lets put this into context, it was the FA cup and it would have been nice to have beaten Brighton but we could do without the extra fixtures and to be honest we weren't going to win it this season!

There was a couple of questionable decisions regarding the match, why was Ferguson not used and is Ranger honestly a better option than Xisco but then is Xisco match fit and was fergsuon being saved for the Norwich match
