Fergie Talk: Newcastle "Just a wee club in the North East"

By Tyne-Talk

Sir Alex Ferguson has ranked up the war of words between himself and Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew by claiming that the spotlight was turned on his behaviour after Wednesday game because he is “at the biggest club in the world not Newcastle, a wee club in the North East.” Prior to the game at Old Trafford Fergie had berated officials during his previous match against Swansea and Pardew had said the he could also be an angry man when things do not go to plan.

Pardew said after the game;

“I think Mike Dean might feel slightly disappointed he didn’t do something about it. I think the pressure that was on him was tough for a referee to take.

Sometimes when you reflect on a game you think you might have acted differently.”

However Fergie has responded by claiming that Pardew and his staff’s behaviour was worse. He said;

“I think Mike Dean handled it well. He’s an experienced referee and mature. There was no ranting and raving. I was demonstrative but I’m always demonstrative because I’m an emotional guy.

I shouted him over and he came towards me. I wasn’t on the pitch for more than three or four yards and I think it’s been overplayed. Anyway, the problem for me and Manchester United is the profile of the club is huge.

Alan Pardew came out and criticised me yet he is the worst at haranguing referees. His whole staff were at it the whole game on Wednesday.

He shoves a linesman and makes a joke of it and yet he’s got the cheek to criticise me. It’s unbelievable and he forgets the help I gave him.

Anyway, the press made a field day out of it and addressed every possible angle. The only one they left out is [speaking to] Barack Obama!

The unfortunate caveat is I’m at the biggest club in the world not Newcastle, a wee club in the North East. I was demonstrative but not out of order. The press had a field day, it’s as simple as that.”

The sooner he is out of football the better, why are the FA and referee's to soft to tackle him, an embarrassing old man with no class, and to be a knight? shocking

The reason the ref didn't write anything down is that they are so swayed by the "power of Fergie" that they cant. He has lots of friends in high places which means people turn a blind eye, add extra minutes, give fictional penalties etc etc

fergie is right basically though isnt he? what as he said wrong? AP did shove a ref in the back and knock him on his butt.. and whilst we may not have a small ground or small fan base etc.. we do have a very small 'wee' owner in terms of committing a single penny to nufc. sometimes the truth hurts but its the truth none the less.

Fergie is right in that Pardew did it - but he was charged by the FA given a 2 match touchline ban and fined £20,000.

Arsene Wenger kicked a water bottle and Mike Dean sent him to the stands, got an £8,000 fine and a 1 match touchline ban.

Mike Dean feels that kicking a bottle is a sending off offence but having a go at 3 officials during the match and on one occasion on the pitch is ok? Something wrong with that logic.

Fergie last got a touchline ban in 2011 for slating the referee in a post match interview. Seems as long as he is appropriate about the ref after the game (which he has done here) all is well and good.

He likes a drink but not sure if he's an alcoholic!

as has been said he's an idiot any other manager would have been banned for going on the pitch and behaving like he was, if any other manager gave a linesman the abuse he did they would be sent to the stands and yes Pardew did push a linesman but was punished for it! Ferguson is coming out with these comments to deflect people away from pointing out how bad his defence is this season, an injury to RVP and they are screwed, had our defence had a good game on wednesday they wouldn't have stood a chance against us and AF knows this, he's slowly loosing grip on the monopoly of the league and cups he once had so is using anything and everything he can to try and keep up!

Whats the point arguing with Man Utd fans? It's not like they know @#$%& all about football, if they did they would be supporting they're local club, China.

Notice I stayed away from surrey this time? Credit where its due.

One of my best moments in football a few years back back I was at Old trafford (we had actually managed a draw) and the announcment comes over the tannoy ' will all away fans stay in the ground while the home fans leave'

To which a lad in front of me replies 'ah it's fair enough they've got further te gan'.

He plays mind games all the time it's pointless trying to understand why. He is the master of the wind up Keegan was a prime example. They are a global product unlike most teams whose supporters are basically local people. He does get away with a lot especially at Old Trafford. The best thing for us to do is ignore him and concentrate on supporting our "wee" club like we always do regardless of how we are performing.We should hold our heads up high and be proud of who we are.

Unlike Utd fans when things don't go their way .......disappear in their droves.

What makes this worse is that the FA are charging both Mancini and Redknapp for having a pop after their games.

Mancini is being pulled for saying Kevin Friend had eaten too much over xmas whilst Harry said the ref should have gone to specsavers.

How is that fair?

It's not fair Carys, Fergie definetly deserves to be punished.

What has that statement got to do with the things Alex Ferguson says and does.He is an interesting character to say the least but be honest he is law unto himself never a dull moment having said that and it gives the papers,T.V.,and ourselves plenty to talk about and discuss.

I would think you have to look no further than David Gill and his influence at the FA to work out why old red nose gets away with it all the time.

But honestly lads there is no point arguing with Man Utd fans in a couple of years they will all be supporting City, having no doubt just put their Chelsea tops away a couple of years back.
