Player Profile: Douglas - Newcastle Re-ignite Interest

TalkSport are reporting that Newcastle United have re-ignited their interest in FC Twente defender Douglas Franco Teixeira. The club registered a £4.5million bid for the player last summer, offering him £40,000 a week in wages. However, the deal seemed to be jeopardised when Fulham matched the offer and FC Twente rejected Newcastle’s proposal.
Douglas ended up staying in Holland and has since made 29 appearances this season.
Now FC Twente will be considering their options as the 24 year olds contract expires in the summer and he could leave on a free.
Reading and Inter Milan have also registered an interest.
