Marseille Set Up Remy Bidding War: Money Talks

Newcastle United target Loic Remy is rumoured to be going to QPR tomorrow for a medical, after Marseille confirmed a deal had been done with Newcastle. The club have now backtracked on that statement and said that an agreement was in place but they have offered the striker out to other Premier League clubs and at the end of the day the decision is his and not the clubs. The club have just set the wheels in motion, to spark a bidding war for the 26 year old, a game Mike Ashley is unlikely to play. Ultimately, money talks and despite QPR's current Premier League position, they appear to be prepared to offer Remy £90,000 a week, which is not an option at Newcastle.

One of Marseille's many many spokesman, sporting director Jose Anigo told RTL television this evening;

"We at OM reached an agreement with Newcastle, but we also talked with other English clubs.

We gave them a working basis and it remains up to Loic to choose the club he prefers in terms of their structure or sporting plans.

He is currently in England and is speaking with some clubs.

Everyone talks about Newcastle, but it is not just Newcastle because he is talking with other clubs.

We have to remain cautious. We have done our job and players and agents must do theirs. Nothing is done.

QPR have deep pockets and a manager (Harry Redknapp) known in England to have a good reputation, so I do not think Loic has closed the door on QPR."

Anigo also told RTL that there is a 3rd club who they have also agreed a deal with, though he failed to share those details.

Last week it was confirmed that Marseille had rejected a bid from QPR after Harry Redknapp flew out to negotiate a deal. At no stage in the Remy saga has a third club been mentioned until now.
