Pardew: Coloccini Will Play Tomorrow: Fans Support Him

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that captain Fabricio Coloccini can lead his team to a win at St James' Park tomorrow against Reading, should the game go ahead. Coloccini who is said to be experiencing personal problems, has been put under the spotlight by his father and Argentinian club San Lorenzo, who have repeatedly been quoted outlining Colo's desire to leave Newcastle. However, Pardew is of the firm belief that the pressure will not be detrimental to the match.
Pardew said in interview earlier today;
"I can give you an example of a player I had at West Ham who had big gambling problems and another who had gambling and drink problems. Both those players found sanctuary on the football pitch. It was the only sanctuary they had. It was the only time they had that and they played well.
Players play through unbelievable situations. I can think of a player at Southampton who got a man-of-the-match award whose cousin had died two days previously in a stabbing incident. Everyone who kicks a football, once you play football, or sport, or tennis, everything is forgotten.
I don’t think that will impact on Colo. I think there’s a determination to play well and he did that at Norwich and I hope he does that on Saturday and I know our fans, and I went to a coaching course this week, and sometimes it is good to go to those things because you remember what you actually have got, the fantastic job I’ve got here and the fantastic fans.
I think they will show that to Colo on Saturday. They understand. We’re going to sit down next week and hopefully iron out the issues and come to a conclusion where Colo stays.
That’s what I hope for as manager. He can focus for 90 minutes and get us a win."
As it stand there has been no word on whether the game will or will not go ahead, as snow blankets the country.

Certainly hope he does play. It's chucking it down with snow in Surrey today.My work is done for the day early weekend. Don't know what the weather is doing in North East?

I'm near Basingstoke and have taken leave rather than try and get out for work. We have about 2/3 inches outside where it hasn't been walked on and still coming down.
Think there will be a fair few games off tomorrow due to travel conditions rather than pitch conditions at higher league games.
If Reading make it to Newcastle the game should be on because it will be a mission of a trip

Yes I agree they would have to pull the plug early to be fair to people travelling such long distances. Like you say if Reading get to Newcastle hopefully the game will go ahead. All the lower league games near me are off already.Snow looks nice from my kitchen window my dog loves it not so sure myself!

Its snowing here, quite heavily atm. Would have to keep up for a while before the match is off I would imagine, all the main roads still clear.

They may find getting out of Reading the hardest then. Can't imagine getting to the M1 will be that easy this morning. The M4 is usually a nightmare at the first sign of a problem

Bit tough on their away support like.
Wouldn't actually be the worst thing for it to be cancelled anyway, may have a couple more players back soon, and you never know even a new signing (I know I am being mad, they are all going to qpr).
Besides I'm to old to sit in the snow. I have took it upon myself to shout bah humbug at passers by as it is.

Yup they could fly, not sure where from mind. Dunno who private flights work but local airports are all suspended at the moment.
Duno how air space works so wouldn't have a clue.
Another week of would give us a chance to get a few back but then *if* we stay in Europa we would have to fit it in elsewhere

Not sure how air space works myself to be honest, and anyway I seriously doubt it will be cannceled.
Obviously we have under soil heating, but usually the games are called off for health and safety reasons, but with st james' being in the middle of the city, access is usually fine.
I was just kind of hoping for a warmer afternoon.

That would not be a disaster but being a glutton for punishment I hope the game is on. Just had my dog out in the park and glad to be back indoors. At least my local pub is just over the road happy days!

How much snow are we talking about? Living in Rochester, NY we get upwards of 100 inches of snow a year. I think we rank in the top three as far as inches of snowfall each year in the US. I'm about 5 miles from Lake Ontario and a few years back we had a spell of 17 straight days of 6" per day. Lake effect snow is just ridiculous. I probably get more snow than CNDShearerFan16 just because of us being south of the lake. Maybe not as cold, though. Of course, we don't really play anything outdoors at this point except american football, pond hockey and skiing.
Dave, I feel your pain. I have two dogs, a border collie and a St. Bernard. The BC comes in as soon as he's called, the SB would sit out there all day if you let him, and my wife makes me go get him to come in. I figured out if I offer a treat to the neighbor's husky, mine gets jealous and then comes in.
I really need this game to go off as it's giving me an excuse to leave our practice facility for a bit tomorrow in stead of helping a bunch of rec kids pick the right sized uniform. Wouldn't Reading already be in town at this point, especially given the weather?

at the moment there is about 3 inches of snow.
However, you have to understand, England falls to pieces with only the smallest bit snow.

It is terrible, usually the main roads are totally clear and theres only an inch or so in the side streets and people still panic like mad, its as if we have never had any snow before.
Out of interest it is currently snowing - very lightly @ Gateshead with about 3 inches max of coverage where I live.
I think unless it comes down a lot heavier the match should go ahead really. Fingers crossed - I want this one out the way and three points added to the board.

Yes we do panic with snow or any change of weather some of the supermarket shelves were empty yesterday no milk or bread let's hope the game goes ahead and we secure 3 points.

Given the preparatory work that took place, and with the assistance of the Council, the surroundings of the stadium are in good shape and not a cause for concern at this time.
Based on the current position, the Club does not envisage any issues with the match going ahead.
The Club will continue to monitor this and update via nufc.co.uk as necessary, as the position may change if there is further snowfall.

Good memory Carys, we had 4 inches of snow here yesterday on the island, but it's almost gone now.
