Newcastle Fail To Find Form (Again) In Defeat To Reading

Newcastle United have slumped to their 12th defeat of the season, this time against Reading. After going into half time 1-0 and the better team, Newcastle came out for the second half and sat back. Pardew opted to take Sylvain Marveaux off in the 63rd minute, replacing him with James Perch and Yohan Cabaye off with just 15 minutes to go just after Reading had scored.

Cabaye headed straight down the tunnel after his substitution, raising concerns of another injury, whilst he was replaced by Gael Bigirimana.

Newcastle quickly conceded a 2nd goal in the 69th minute, before bringing Gabriel Obertan on for Vurnon Anita in the 79th minute to save the day.

Unsurprisingly Alan Pardew’s men couldn’t be saved and the game ended with Reading walking away from St James’ Park with their first away win of the season.

Whilst Newcastle do not go down in the Premier League table, Reading have clawed their way up to 17th just 3 points from Newcastle. The result means that Newcastle are also just 3 points away from Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic ,who are both currently in the relegation zone, with no indication of getting any better.

Whilst Pardew currently has Hatem Ben Arfa and Danny Simpson out injured, with Simpson scheduled to return for the game against Aston Villa on the 29th January it is clear that this is a team in dire need of some new talent and strong leadership on the field.

Previous excuses of having numerous players out injured no longer washes with Yohan Cabaye, Fabricio Coloccini, Jonas Gutierrez, James Perch and Steven Taylor all recently injured and now available.

Newcastle have now lost 8 games from their last 12 in all competitions. In 3 of their last 5 Premier League games they have been ahead only to give it away. (Against Manchester United, Everton & Reading).

This game sums up the season so far frustrating, disappointing and annoying but we are where we are for a reason.Simply not good enough and in real danger of relegation! Looking at the next 3 games I can't see our plight improving the damage is already done with results like today's.

it is really simple if desperate.

Something changes or we go down.

I can't see a light at the end of this dark tunnel it's so disappointing but being the age that I am I'm used to it. It still hurts but as a supporter you have to put up with it nothing we can do about it unfortunately.
