Kevin Mbabu Signs For Newcastle Utd & Is "Delighted"

Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of 17 year old Kevin Mbabu. The Swiss teenager was also a target for Manchester United, but Newcastle have sealed a three and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee, as confirmed by the official club website.

Mbabu told NUFC.co.uk;

"I am delighted to join Newcastle United. Today is a big day for me. I've always wanted to sign for a club in the Premier League and Newcastle is one of the biggest there is.

I want to finish my development here with the Reserves before one day training with the first team and hopefully breaking into the first team."

Willie Donachie described the defender as "strong confident, skillfull and a very good prospect."

Mbabu is currently an Under 19's Swiss International and has signed from Servette, where he made one first team appearance.

We can always give him a run out in the League or FA Cup, erm, never mind. (Sm105) Wasn't even expecting this much of a move today if I'm honest.
