Pardew Gives Krul Update

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew reiterated earlier today that the club are unsure as to how serious Tim Krul's injury is but that it is serious enough for him to be left out of tomorrow's game against Southampton. Krul who was injured in the final minutes of Thursday's Europa League game will go for a further assessment on Monday. However there is strong speculation that he could miss several matches. Pardew said;

“Tim’s injury is an issue that is not quite clear yet. On Monday we’ll probably know a little but more.

The scan is showing that he has a strain in there and we need to protect him, so he won’t play this weekend.

How long he’s out, I don’t know”.

Confirming Rob Elliot would start tomorrow's game Pardew added;

“It does, one door closes and another opens. For Robbie it is much deserved because he’s worked so hard on the training pitch”.

Elliot has looked good in the Europa league games this season. It's an opportunity for him to shine.
