Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Newcastle Utd v Stoke City

Newcastle United host Stoke City tomorrow afternoon, having drawn two, won two and lost two from their last six games in all competitions, whilst Stoke travel on the back of one win, one draw and four defeats from their last six.
Just three points separate the two sides ahead of the game, with Newcastle six points clear of the relegation zone in 15th and Stoke in eleventh and pushing to break into the top ten.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is without Fabricio Coloccini (back) who may never play for the club again after it was confirmed he could be out until May, with a view to then leaving the club in the summer if rumour is to be believed.
Tim Krul (ankle) and Steve Harper (knee) are also both unavailable, whilst Papiss Cisse (illness) is expected to return, as are Yoan Gouffran and Mathieu Debuchy who were both unavailable in midweek.
Stoke are without Robert Huth who serves his second of a three match ban, however Tony Pulis has no new injury concerns with Michael Owen (thigh) and Mathew Etherington (back) both facing late fitness tests.
Fact: Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet from their last 10 games and conceded 23 goals.
Fact: Stoke have lost 1-0 in three of their last four Premier League games.

I think if we play to our potential we should win this.Will be physical and need to watch their set pieces. I predict 2 -0 having said that I will take any winning score and the 3 points.

why are we not doing something else with the corners and free kicks, we wouldnt be an aerial threat against a team of pygmies let alone stoke, why not play it short and try and get it to someone on the edge of the box to either play it through to someones feet or have a shot!

Cabaye is doing better with the set pieces today but its pointless just putting high balls into the box, we need to be more technical with the balls into the box

Personally I would have taken Cisse off but we only have Campbell to bring on. Even Sissoko was nervous about passing him the ball. He is also seriously frustrated!!

I thought gouffran played well apart from panicking in front of goal
Marv finally gave cisse the sort of pass he needs, if we are playing with cisse this is the sort of ball he needs rather than crossing it constantly or making him come deep for it

We made such hard work of it, playing into their hands. Lumping balls and corners far to close to their keeper, and if he misses them they play four cb at the back to clear up.
We should have been playing through the middle more often, like we did towards the end leading to Cisse's goal.
Why did Tiote have to go to ground? Will he ever learn? Im wondering if Anita deserves a run against Wigan in the next league game. So mush better at keeping possession.
Stoke are a vile, anti football team. Sooner the go down the better.

Totally agree Biffins, there's a guy does a blog on sky sports who is a Stoke fan and i was reading one of his blogs last week saying that even the Stoke fans are getting fed up of the non footballing tactics Pulis is employing especially away from home, apparently attendances are dropping at home and away and they are putting it down to the poor football being played, with someone commenting saying its not often you go to a home match to watch the away team actually play football!

They are a horrible side to play against so the 3 points are even sweeter and Pullis moaning on was the icing on the cake for me.
