Carroll Returns to Toon?
By Tyne-Talk
May 21 2013
West Ham United have allegedly agreed a £15 million fee with Liverpool for striker Andy Carroll.
Recent speculation has linked Newcastle with the 24 year old with Pardew suggesting that he would consider putting a bid in for the former Newcastle United player. With the West Ham news just breaking, many are suggesting that the fee is too high and that Newcastle shouldn't look to match it. What do you think? Have your say by voting on the poll on this page!
Results will be published once Carroll signs on the dotted line wherever he goes.

Andy Carroll offers something entirely different from any other striker. He is passionate, strong in the air - almost unplayable with the right service - he is good with his feet and he is only 24. He would cause chaos in Europe - if we sack Pardew, & get there the season after next.
Definitely worth £15m. Sign him now, but also get two quick wingers who can give him the service.
Most importantly - Pardew out!!!

I'm a lpool fan,and think Carroll will hold out for a Newcastle offer !!! But I can't see lpool getting burnt again, after paying £35 million pounds for him ;-( And I totally blame one man CLOWN FOOLGLISH,because it wasn't just Carroll who he overpaid for :- Downing £20 million,Henderson £17 million,Adam £9 million ;-( WORST MANAGER EVER,IN PREMIER LEAGUE HISTORY...

Eh sell him for £35m and buy him back for £20m less. No brainer if you ask me. We need strikers we need more british players so he would be perfect.

I would have him back in a shot for that price.
Others saying he isn't worth it - but his value I would say if fair based on other sales which have happened and will happen this summer for players of a lesser or equal standard to him.

I am a hammers fan. I don't have 15mn but I would be delighted to have him with us permanently. I would guess that his heart is with Newcastle though so if you match the offer I think you would be his first choice. Fair enough while he was with us he was 100% committed to us. That sorta guy.

There are a few reasons why I would match West Hams offer, the main one being that we banked 35mill for him.
Take everything else out of the equation and you would probably say 12mill is about right. Thing is, West Ham want him and have acted quickly. They know that we are interested so are wanting to move quick. Since we got such a fee for him, then I think we can pay a little over the odds to get him back.
SSN say that it could be 12 mill up front, rising to 15mill depending on performance. That is even more of a reason to get him.
In a way, it might be a good thing that West Ham have shown their hand. Liverpool have accepted it, so if we want him, we match their offer. If we let it slide then we couldnt have really wanted him. It will cut out the bull.sh17 and give the powers that be no excuses. It forces us into a bit of action.
As far as what kind of player he is. He does offer something that we obviously dont have. Saying that, he is far better on the ground than what people give him credit for. Those who say he is a long ball merchant obviously didnt see him when he was dominating teams on our first season back in the premiership. Cisse has looked all alone up there on his own, so who better to feed off Carroll (like Nolan), than him.

He's worth £10m at best. There are tons of better players out there available for less.

No I wouldn't for that sort of money we could probably afford to sign Bony and another player maybe Douglas(Agent fees etc, as he's out of contract). Which would improve us further than lumping all our eggs in one basket. If we sign Carroll for 15m how many more players do you expect through the door ?
I have always been dead against him returning after turning his back on us before, I understand he would atm improve us but not anywhere near that price.

So for 15m people would rather gamble on a player like bony who may be technically a better player but no prem experience rather than take a local lad who has made a few mistakes but has proven prem ability at hoof ball and passing style football ! The world has gone mad
How many world class strikers do we need to see crash and burn before people realise the proven option is better , we've seen players like crespo/shevchenko midfielders too like Sebastian veron at various clubs and ballack to an extent all fail to make it
Yes sometimes you have to gamble and the rewards can be great but if there's an option for English talent with experienc at the same sort of price it should be a no brainer ! Plus it's safer to then take a gamble on a player to add to a decent side than it is to take the risk when your desperate for a striker
Be carefull what you wish for we could end up with an out of sorts cisse and a player who can't adjust to pl football next season and be in the same mess we were this year

It would depend on the budget as a whole. San Lorenzo are stirring again, so it seems likely another centre back is needed, in addition to two forwards. If we have a budget of £40m (I know - dreaming here) then perhaps a deal worth that much potentially.
£12m with £3m after 15 England appearances would possibly be the highest I'd go.
My concern would be does he really want to come back?
Given his bust-up with Taylor (and subsequent departure of the majority of the players he's worked with), criminal record, likely wage offer and the divided opinion of the fans (how many have booed him when he's played at West Ham / Liverpool?) I can't see a reason why he'd want to come back to Newcastle.
Living the dream of leading the line for your boyhood club is the only positive I can see for him to return.
Considering his friendship with Nolan, the backing of the backroom (Management and Board) at West Ham and the decent wage he'll be picking up I can't see him realistically coming back to St James's.
Personally; I would say in terms of value for demonstrable talent in the Premier League looking at poaching Arouna Kone from Wigan (if they can be persuaded to sell / part exchange)

I really dislike Andy Carroll especially for his antics off the pitch. I disliked him for the bad press NUFC and the fans had to put up with. I was really delighted when he was sold for such a huge sum.
But I'm fed up watching the poor performances, of supposedly good players, players who have not given their all for the Toon.
So I would have Andy Carroll back because he would run his socks off for Newcastle and I believe he'd be an excellent partner for Cisse.

The price would be less than £15m because Liverpool still owe us £6 so would kinda be balanced out with the outstanding monies

Sorta sums up the over-valuation of English 'talent' in a nutshell mental. As for the original question at most I'd pay 10 for him.

I couldn't stop laughing at the price they paid and still do now and remind my mate at work constantly , but the fact is for 15m tops Carroll is the safer bet for a team desperate in need of goals and a player who understands where on the pitch you need to be to score them
Like I said about crespo and shevchenko , as players they were thousands of times better than Carroll but they couldn't cut it in the prem and Carroll can so sadly his price is going to be over inflated to reflect that
