Former Agent Denies Cisse Rumours

Papiss Cisse's former agent Guido Nickolay has denied he had anything to do with the reports in yesterday's press suggesting that the player was being lined up for a move to Russian side Anzhi and confirmed that he has not represented the player for over a year.

He said in response to the reports;

“I don’t know where the quotes from Russia have come from.

I haven’t been his agent since last May, so I wouldn’t try to get him a deal.”

Anzhi were reported to be preparing a £15.4M bid for the Senegal International, but Newcastle are said to be expecting at least £20M before they even consider an offer.

Have you seen the latest, apparently Cisse is refusing to wear the shirt next season over the Wonga name being on the shirt. I understand fully the concerns with Wonga but if this is true which it may not be I think he has his mind set elsewhere already or the media are seriously trying to mess with his head. Apparently its down to a religious and moral thing.

The club really need to think these things through further, I mean is this going to affect possible signings coming in or not? Didnt Bolton just last week change their mind on a similar sponsor sponsoring them.

Its a load of rubbish, the whole issue relates to sharia law not allowing loans where you need to pay interest, Virgin Money offer these loans and i've never heard of him refusing to wear the strip since he's signed.

Its just another example of london media trying to find a story without having any facts.

As for future signings i cant see it having an affect, HBA, Ba etc haven't had a problem with wearing a strip with a bank on it, muslims are against drinkng alcohol and fellaini doesn't have a problem wearing a strip advertising beer.

Bolton bowed down to pressure from fans, they probably didn't even consider the affect it'd have on future signings

There has been concern about whether loan-shark high interest money-lending organisations will be permitted to sponsor football clubs.

Sure, they're paying a fair whack for the sponsorship - but I'm still uneasy with the affiliation.

But a player refusing to play because of the company on the shirt? Sounds like journalists clutching at straws for transfer news around Newcastle.

The whole of sport sponsorship is a murky world, you cant advertise cigarettes due to health implications but alcohol is fine, people are fine with large mainstream banks not only sponsoring individual clubs but whole leagues and yet they are against other lending institutes whose main shareholders are the mainstream banks, gambling companies seem to be fine as do insurance companies if you start to look at sponsorship ethically you'll end up with very few available companies unless you go for the Sunderland way and get sponsored by a charity( although i read they were paid 20million for htat sponsorship deal so it was quite a good deal)

You think Sunderland are sponsored by a charity? It's fat from being that innocent i'm afraid, google Tullow Oil.

Tiote is now apparently taking legal advice regarding Wonga, apparently he and Cisse were unaware of what Wonga were when they posed for photos wearing the new strip and now Tiote is demanding that promotional photos of him wearing the strip aren't published!
