Pre-Season: Match Preview/Thread: St Mirren v Newcastle Utd

Newcastle United head to St Mirren Park this evening, on the back of their second win of the pre-season against Blackpool on Sunday afternoon. Newcastle have now won two, drawn one and lost one of their four pre-season friendlies.
The team is boosted by the return of Papiss Cisse who is expected to feature after resolving his dispute with the club over the shirt and that of Fabricio Coloccini who could be named after serving a one match suspension for a red card he collected in Portugal.
There is no news as to whether Shola Ameobi (dead leg) is fit to play but manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that Gabriel Obertan is not available due to injury, that Vurnon Anita is fit to play and Hatem Ben Arfa will be named in the side.
St Mirren are without injured Kenny McLean (leg) but manager Brian Caldwell has expressed his delight at the game and the quality of players Newcastle are looking at fielding. He said;
“We have a great relationship with Newcastle United, and we were delighted when they agreed to play this match.
We initially thought it would be a mixture of fringe players and kids, but the news that they are sending their top team to Paisley is just fantastic.
It’s great news for everyone connected with the club and I’m thrilled for our supporters as they will see all these top Premiership stars on their own doorstep.
It will be an excellent test for the players. It’s a win-win situation all round.”
Newcastle duo Conor Newton and Paul Dummett who were loaned out to St Mirren last season are expected to be name in the squad for Newcastle, after Dummett was named against Blackpool, whilst reserve player Michael Richardson turned out as a trialist for St Mirren at the weekend and could potentially be named in their side if a loan deal has been agreed.

Well we will probably draw 0-0 i have watched all pre-season games even travelled to blackpool (wonga derby) and we was dire!! PADEW KINNEAR AND ASHLEY OUT
the key is finding who anita can play with, we saw last season he cant play alongside cabaye so unless cabaye leaves or is given a more attacking role and sticks to it i think Anita will be left on the bench to be used as a replacement for cabaye.
