Newcastle United have rejected a £10Million bid from Arsenal for French International Yohan Cabaye. The midfielder who has also been linked with moves to Mancheser United and Tottenham Hotspur will not be leaving the club unless a significantly improved bid is made.I
It is understood that owner Mike Ashley is looking for at least £20million for the 27 year old who has three years left on his current contract.
Cabaye is expected to start tonight against Manchester City and the club may have rejected this offer but Pardew has already said that if a decent offer comes in the club will have to react to it.

Arsene just wants to be seen trying I think - then he can't be accused of not doing anything when he doesn't sign someone

Publicly they might have rejected the bid out of hand but I'm sure that Arsenal will have been discretely told by NUFC to come back with a better offer.

If I actually believed the money would be re invested into actually signing a decent striker I wouldn't be disappointed if he went for 20+m as midfield is an area we are well covered
But we all know that's not going to happen , he'll go for around 18m near the end of the window with no replacement or striker brought with the proceeds !

It's what Pardew's been angling for the whole Summer.
"We can't compete financially with other teams".
"We want to keep Cabaye, he's a top player (so we want a big bid)".
"No offers for Cabaye (yet!)".
Once again, too late to do much with the money though, and this'll serve nicely to disrupt the squad ahead of the opening game. Great start.

From one of our football commentators over here on the incident and continued PSG interest:
"I don't blame Cabaye at all.If you live in a crumbling house led by a maniac who didn't know your name, would you turn down a move to a mansion?"
