Kinnear: Our Squad Is Big Enough - I don't Understand

Newcastle United's Director of Football Joe Kinnear has given an interview today confirming exactly what the fans have been saying from the beginning of his 2nd spell at the club - that he doesn't understand.  Whilst Kinnear was of course referring to was the negativity displayed at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon, when banners were taken away from fans - the fans are all in agreement that the problem is Mr Kinnear just doesn't get it.

Kinnear told The Mirror;

"I don't understand where the negativity has come from - we are two games into a 38-game season and already the doom-and-gloom merchants are looking for a scapegoat.

We are working together - not plotting against each other.

Alan Pardew has signed 16 players costing £60m in the last two years, Newcastle United's wage bill is now comfortably in the top 10 in the country, and he will continue to get all the support the club can reasonably provide."

In an effort to shift the blame he added;

"Before the season started, we had sat down and agreed the squad was big enough, and strong enough, to finish in the top half of the table. But we are working together - not plotting against each other.

There seems to be a perception, from outside the club, that we are at loggerheads, but I don't know why people are jumping on the bandwagon because it is a false picture.

I sanctioned the one-year loan deal for Loic Remy, and if it goes  pear-shaped I will take responsibility for it.

But if he scores goals and does  well for us, Alan will be happy with our end of the deal; the player will be  happy because he will come into contention for a World Cup place with France;  and if both those things happen, Remy will go back to QPR as a World Cup  player with a higher value than when he joined them, so everyone will come out  of it well."

Since the end of last season Newcastle have released Steve Harper and Danny Simpson and sold James Perch, all of whom played 1st team football. So far the club have also allowed seven reserve team players (some who frequented the first team) to go out on loan and are currently considering sending Sammy Ameobi to Wigan. The squad may have been big enough at the beginning of the summer (though not good enough), but has been reduced quite considerably since then.

So Joe Kinnear has just proved, as he said, that he just doesn't get it.

You have got to be kidding me,

These people who hold the reins of our club (temporarily WE hope) have absolutely no Idea.
1 relegation is not enough to wake them up, we JUST escaped last season. So are we set for another season of just scraping by.
Get the club sold and get out.

Give someone who wants us to do well a chance.

The bloke is so deluded it is scary. What is more scary is that it appears to be ONLY the fans and Pardew that can see it.

Pardew is repeatedly getting blamed (albeit tactics are his fault) for our situation but he has repeatedly said the squad isn't big enough - in public - whilst Kinnear is being dishonest and saying they have agreed it is.

Every week we hear Pardew saying it isn't.. That is why nobody believes they are united.

shame he forgot to mention that over the same period we'd brought in more money from player sales than we spent on players
