Pardew: "If Cabaye Goes Good Luck To Him - Bye Bye"

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is as fed up as the rest of us with the Yohan Cabaye saga which promises to keep on going until either Arsenal finally put in their increased offer or Cabaye gets himself into gear and behaves like a professional footballer (and by that he needs to be making himself available to play). Cabaye who has now allegedly refused to play in the clubs first two games of the season has kept very quiet on the matter, but Pardew has been very vocal.

Before the West Ham game on Saturday Pardew was asked whether it had been a difficult decision to make to leave Cabaye out of the side, his response was that it was a decision which had to be made. It then came to light that Cabaye had refused to participate.

Now Pardew has shown his frustration again with the situation in an interview with the Chronicle, he said;

"You can't say he is definitely going to stay, so the mindset of the player is such that we need to be on guard.

We are on the case with that. We have to be armed. We need to resolve it.

If he goes, good luck to him. Bye, bye. We need to replace him with somebody as good."

Worryingly for Cabaye, Arsenal appear to be make enquiries to every player going, despite reports that the two clubs are now in advanced talks and there is always the possibility he could still be at Newcastle long after this transfer window shuts if nobody comes in with the cash.

Mike Ashley is holding out for as close to £20million for the French International as possible and Arsenal have apparently spent the last week working on an improved bid.

Wenger said ahead of the Fenerbahce game;

“We don’t have a fixed number. I am guided by my conscience to do as well as I can for this club and the vision of the gamed I want to play. I feel with the players I have we can play the football we want to play.

I am a great admirer of the spirit and attitude of these players. They are special and if I want to add something it has to be special. I am still optimistic and I hope I will not disappoint you.

I will not give you any names, because it would be unfair for the players who play at another club. It could, as well, create some wrong hopes.

You could see that many of the disputes you have all over the country is because the coaches or the managers speak about the players.

In our job, just be discreet and try to make things happen. That’s what we try to do.”

His comments came after the club lodged their first bid for Cabaye just hours before Newcastle's opening game of the season.
