Cabaye Will Play If He Is Still At Newcastle Come Saturday

Alan Pardew has today told the press that wantaway midfielder Yohan Cabaye can expect to be playing at the weekend, unless a club has an offer accepted between now and then. Cabaye who is yet to play for Newcastle United this season after Arsenal put in their first offer ahead of the season opener, has been the subject of much speculation over the last two weeks and Pardew had become evidently frustrated by the situtaion.

Pardew said;

"A bit like some of the other managers who are in my position, Martinez in particular at Everton, we have still got to wait until the window shuts before really and truly we can say 'yes' or 'nay' on a definite.

But what I have said to Yohan Cabaye is I expect him to play this weekend. Until another bid comes in from Arsenal that is accepted or not, that will be the situation.

To be honest, our relationship really hasn't deteriorated too much in terms of what's gone on.

I think he is in a better place and he knows the responsibility he has to Newcastle United.

I hope I can keep all my players - that's one good thing, because you don't want to lose a world-class player like Yohan Cabaye - and hopefully the addition of one or two others."

Looks like a change of tactics by Ashley in his attempts to cash in on Cabaye. I believe Cabaye didn't appear against Man City or West Ham because Ashley was protecting his asset. However with an improved bid from Arsenal having failed to materialise and nothing as yet from PSG Ashley has obviously decided to put Cabaye in the shop window on Saturday in a last desperate attempt to sell him before the deadline.

there was no point playing him against citeh his mind wouldn't have been in it, the west ham match would of been a mixture of him not wanting to play and the club not wanting to risk him, obviously now they are thinking we're paying him so he's got to play although i'll not be happy if he walks straight back into the first team
