Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Newcastle Utd v Hull City

Newcastle United host Hull City tomorrow afternoon having won their last three, drawn one and lost one from their last five games in all competitions. Hull travel on the back of one draw, two defeats and two wins from their last five in all competitions.
Despite the lack of signings for Newcastle in the transfer window, they are not performing too badly this season. Their win against Fulham at the weekend propelled them to 8th in the League and was their third consecutive win (all competitions).
Loic Remy will make his full home debut tomorrow, as manager Alan Pardew is expected to name an unchanged side to that which beat Aston Villa last weekend. No changes means that Yohan Cabaye will make his first start in-front of the home fans after news of his being disciplined by the club was confirmed by Pardew earlier this week.
Newcastle are once again adding to the injury list on a weekly basis with Shola Ameobi (knock) unavailable after picking up an injury on International duty and with Steven Taylor (hamstring), Gabriel Obertan (hamstring), Mike Williamson (knock) and Jonas Gutierrez (hamstring) all also out injured. Massadio Haidara (knee) and Ryan Taylor (ACL) are long term absentees.
Steve Bruce will be without Robert Koren (broken foot) and Paul McShane (hamstring), whilst Maynor Figueroa who was out with a groin injury has also been granted compassionate leave and has returned to Honduras.
Striker Yannick Sagbo returns from suspension.
Fact: Hatem Ben Arfa has had more attempts in open play than any other Premier League player this season (13)
Fact: Hull have won just one of their last eleven Premier League games.
Fact: Danny Graham has gone 20 Premier League appearances without scoring a goal…… what are the chances?

I'm looking forward to this game for three reasons:
1. Looking forward to seeing Cisse and Remy up front
2. I think we will win
3. Watching HBA trying to live up to his boast that he could be regarded as the best in the world.

Every long ball by Hull is being hit into Debuchy's area
I could be wrong but I think they are trying to get an aggressive response from Debuchy in the hope of getting free-kicks or getting him sent off.

You have to give it to Remy, he is being in the right place, just like a striker should be..
Good goals, even though it was a bit lucky..
On their goal, we are NOT in position, and wtf is Debuchy doing pushing up, leaving our right side all open..
Hopefully it will be a better 2nd half, even though I think we played some decent football..

Yeah! Ben Arfa wasn't anything like as good as he was last match. Cabaye's crossing wasn't that hot either.
We could take a leaf out of Hull's book. They always seem to get 7, 8 or 9 defenders back when we were attacking.
What a disappointment after such a good start.
I can't believe we didn't at least get a draw.

I know Annie.
Every time we gave the ball to a winger there was two players on them and they still had defenders and midfielders back.
It's called passion, which our team lacks.
Very disappointed today.

I think Hull did a very good job defending against Ben Arfa, but the way he have been playing in the first 2 games, of course they would put 2 defenders on him.
I think that we were trying to be to offensive in this game. Dont know if Cabye were just lazy, or it was actually part of the tactic, but in the Villa game, we seemed to put pressure on their defenders to get the ball back. But today, we were to lazy, and people didnt work their socks of when we lost the ball to get it back, and for that, we paid the price.
To be fair, it was rather their mistakes that we scored on, that good play from our side.
Hopefully we will be better in the next game, and people will actually work harder, which isnt that hard.
Still think that Anita have been doing a good job in the midfield, and it is hard to see how Tiote can get his place in the team back..

Wow. We never win when I go to games lol.
First of all the ref and linesman were awful - some of the worst ive seen in a very long time.
We were repeatedly being punished.
Anita was very good for us today he was end to end and in good positions, but he wasn't getting service. On two occasions he was out wide stood in front of us with his hands in the air and the whole of the stand were shouting for him to start shouting because the rest of the team seemed to be ignoring him.
Cisse was also not great - I would have taken him off at half time. However, heard at HT people giving him MOTM. is this true? I must have missed it.
Hatem Ben Arfa - Mr Split personality didn't look overly fit. He appeared to be limping in the 36th minute. That said we watched the warm up and whilst everyone was giving it some welly - he barely moved. Just like during the game. He got a lot of abuse from the crowd because he just didn't look interested at all.
Remy was good today. He did look to be carrying an injury in the 2nd half but even then he still played like he wanted to win.
On a plus note - stadium tour was fab!

In the second half we had 6 men up front waiting for the ball and Debuchy instead of passing it up to them decided to have a shot at goal from 30 yds.
The commentator was as disgusted as I was except he wasn't allowed to say the words I used.
I'm glad you enjoyed the tour Carys but you're going to have to stop going to the matches, if they never win when you are there.

Hull totally deserved it today. We scored early on and thought it was job done against little Hull. Only Colo, Anita and Remy can come out with any credit.
Cabaye was shocking today, almost anonymous, alongside Santon and Cisse. Mbiwa and Sissoko trying to dribble through but losing the ball. HBA was also terrible and not just because they were two people marking him. I would like to have seen him and Remy swapping sides to keep the opposition guessing. It seemed like we were spending more time as 451 instead of 433. Sissoko and Anita should be the ones covering, not Benny and Remy.

a poor performance from the team as a whole, debuchy needs to realise that when HBA is in front of him he needs be a defender, their first goal HBA was strolling back and Debuchy was in the centre of the box, had he been in his right position he would have probably stopped a goal.
TVA, you say you can't see how tiote will get back into the team i'd rather see him in the team than cabaye who was a waste of space yesterday, with tiote in the team it would allow Anita to play a more advanced role and provide the forwards with more service.

To be honest mental, I was hoping we'd sell Cabaye to Arsenal. He's very overrated and one of the worst at taking corners. Why he doesn't let somebody else do it, I don't know.

HBA is good at corners but then what would cabaye do, he'd stand on the edge of the box and when the opposition broke he'd foul one of them.
I too wanted him sold, it was no suprise that we struggled while he was captain and always look poor in midfield with him in the team
