Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was all smiles after he watched his side win their 2nd consecutive game and keep their 2nd consecutive clean sheet. Loic Remy put Newcastle ahead in the first half of the game against Spurs at lunchtime, but it was keeper Tim Krul who won the game for the side, making save after save to secure all three points.

Pardew said after the match;

"He has had a few good uns for us, Tim.

I think he is the best Dutch goalie for sure and I think he is the best in the Premier League. He has been really hurt with injuries and not had a good run in last 18 months.

I thought first half we were the better team, second half they changed it and caused us no ends of problems. We have to defend with our lives but that is what makes football great. Our goalie was terrific and the centre halves, they were the stars.

Loic Remy scores goals, we felt because the Spurs centre halves play high there are going to be chances in behind. He took the second one really well and gave us the platform to win the game.”

He added;

“We did similar to what we did when we won against Chelsea.

I thought Remy had a great chance before he scored and I was a little bit surprised he did not take that because he really is in great form.

But the second one he made no mistake with and it gave us a platform for the win.

He has got a silkiness to the way he moves and a nice kind of gait, the way he runs and everything. He really is a classy-looking performer, which is great if you back it up with goals.

It kind of elevates him and he stands out, but I thought Shola Ameobi was terrific in the 60 minutes he played. He was as important as Loic, I thought.”
