Game In Pics! Newcastle Utd 5 v 1 Stoke City

Newcastle United put five goals past Stoke City this afternoon in a 5-1 win at St James' Park. The game saw 6 goals in total, 5 goals from Newcastle, 4 yellow cards, 2 red cards, 2 penalties and 1 goal from Stoke. It has certainly been a Boxing Day to remember for Alan Pardew and his team. Stoke's Assaidi opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a Charlie Adam assist.
Stoke's Glenn Whelan picked up the first yellow card of the game in the 33rd minute, before collecting his second yellow and then red in the 39th minute.
The match was delayed for three minutes due to an injury sustained by Mathieu Debuchy, but as soon as the game was back in play Marc Wilson was shown a straight red for a foul on Loic Remy. Remy was awarded a penalty which he missed in the 42nd minute of the game!
The 2nd sending off lead to frustrations on the Stoke City bench with manager Mark Hughes throwing his coat around before being sent to the stands himself!
Remy made up for his penalty miss just a minute later when he put Newcastle level in the 43rd minute of the game.
Just before the half time whistle both Assaidi and Debuchy were booked but the first half ended Newcastle 1 - Stoke City 1. Pardew replaced Vurnon Anita with Shola Ameobi at the break, whilst Stoke replaced Assaidi with Andy Wilkinson.
Yoan Gouffran resumed the scoring for Newcastle in the 47th minute of the game.
Newcastle missed four attempts within 5 minutes before Loic Remy made it three infront of the home fans.
Stoke then replaced Peter Crouch with Wilson Palacios in the 58th whilst Pardew took Davide Santon off in the 60th and replaced him with Massadio Haidara. Yohan Cabaye made it 4 -1 with 15minutes to go with an assist from Debuchy.
Papiss Cisse entered the field in the 71st minute when he replaced Yoan Gouffran and was applauded by the crowd when he lined up the 2nd penalty of the game in the 79th minute after Hatem Ben Arfa was foulded by Erik Pieters.
Cisse scored from the penalty making it 5-1 to Newcastle.
In the 88th minute, Haidara (who seems to pick up kicks in every game) was brought to the ground by Ryan Shawcross in what was Newcastle's 3rd penalty appeal of the game.
Martin Atkinson dismissed the claims and both Hatem Ben Arfa and Shola Ameobi missed chances in the final few minutes of the game.
Overall a great Boxing Day for Alan Pardew, the team and all the Newcastle United fans.
