Hughes charged with 'improper conduct'

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has been charged by the FA for 'improper conduct' after his tantrum on the touchline during yesterday's game. Hughes was seen to kick a ball onto the field after Glenn Whelan was sent off for a second yellow card. After being asked to leave the dugout by referee Martin Atkinson he proceeded to remove his jacket and throw it in the air.

Hughes was also highly critical of the referee in his post match interview after watching his side fall to a 5-1 defeat from his position in the stands.

The FA statement reads;

"Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has been charged by The FA following his side's game at Newcastle United yesterday.

It is alleged that his behaviour in or around the 40th minute of the fixture amounted to improper conduct."
