After the 5-1 hammering over Stoke City on Boxing Day Newcastle United will need to have their feet firmly on the ground as they host Arsenal tomorrow lunchtime. Newcastle go into the game on the back of four wins, one draw and a defeat from their last six games, whilst Arsenal have two wins, two defeats and two draws from theirs.
Arsenal are currently top of the table, whilst Newcastle are 6 points behind in 6th. A win for Arsenal will see them stay top for New Year, but a win for Newcastle could see them go up to 5th depending on other results.
Alan Pardew welcomes back the return of Cheik Tiote who has now served a one match ban for collecting five yellow cards. Hatem ben Arfa replaced Tiote on Thursday and Pardew will need to re-consider his line-up as the Ivory Coast international is expected to start.
Jonas Gutierrez (calf) is the only injury concern, but having missed a large proportion of the season it is unlikely to have much of an impact.
Arsene Wenger is without Aaron Ramsey (thigh), Yaya Sanogo (back), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) and Abou Diaby (knee). However, Tomas Rosicky (rested), Jack Wilshire (suspended) and Laurent Koscielny (cut knee) are all available.
Fact: Newcastle have won 7 of their last 9 games.
Fact: Newcastle have won just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Arsenal (W1, D5, L6).
Fact: Arsenal's victory against West Ham on Boxing Day came after three games without a win, their worst run of the season.

after watching arsenal against west ham I think we can win this one, shola needs to start this one as their defenders dont like anyone with a physical presence.
Agree - he should most definitely have passed that ball.
However I think a draw would have been fair but I'm not too upset by the result. We played well. We made it hard from them and they resorted to dirty tactics.
We definitely played a lot better than I had predicted, though I really think we should have invested more in our fast breaks in the first half, that was where we could have had the upper hand..
However, if we continue with this effort, we have a fair chance to be top6 the end of the season. Still my goal would be top8, and we would have had a good season..
