Pardew Accepts Debuchy Red Card Without Complaint

Alan Pardew had no complaints about Mathieu Debuchy's sending off in the 62nd minute of the game against West Brom earlier today. The French defender launched into a two footed challenge on Claudio Yacob and received a straight red. He will now miss the next three games.

Pardew said after the game;

"I don't think we have too many complaints. Mathieu has been our best player this last period. He's an honest player.

He genuinely went for the ball. There was no malicious intent but you can't take off with two feet.

He knows that so we are going to suffer. So will he.

Three games will be a big miss."

He added;

"I thought it was a game we had good control over. West Brom more or less let us have the initiative but unfortunately we couldn't find the breakthrough before the sending off.

That changed the game."

The card marked a disappointing start to the New Year for Debuchy after he was awarded Man Of The Match for his performance against Arsenal at the weekend.
