Player Profile: Luuk De Jong - Newcastle Utd Linked Again

Sky Sports News have this evening advertised a breaking news announcement in relation to Newcastle United, only to inform fans that the club are interested in Luuk De Jong. Not quite what fans were hoping and not really breaking news, De Jong has been a long term target of the club, who were reported to have tabled an £8M bid back in June 2012 for it to be rejected by his then team FC Twente. The Gazette also reported the renewed interest back in November. Since Newcastle's previous involvement the 23 year old striker has moved to Borussia Monchengladbach for £12M but is out of favour and hasn't started a game for the club this season.
It was previously thought that Borussia were hoping to loan him out after he demanded showdown talks back in December 2013. He has scored just since goals in th Bundesliga since arriving at the club approximately 18 months ago.
He has also been linked with a move to Stoke City.
