if we bring a striker in this month and Remy doesn't want to sign for us permanently then i would leave him on the bench for the rest of the season, see how well noticed he gets in the world cup if he's not picked for the french squad

I don't buy this story to be honest, I know it's everywhere, but it orginated in the sun on sunday.

It's not the remy won't join us, to be honest I have thought that for a while.

It's the 10 million I don't buy.

More nonsense made up by the southern media in a desperate attempt to have some Newcastle news, or as they possibly think on it, news from scotland.

It was £8million at the time the loan deal was sorted

If he can do a job on the pitch, surely it would make sense to use him whilst we're paying at least part of his wages. He's a good player, we should make use of him while we can.

Take advantage of his drive to try and force himself into the France World Cup squad.

would we not be better giving our new striker the minutes on the pitch especially if he's new to the league?

We need him on the pitch.

Stepping back, I see mental's point. He is not saying it as a punishment to Remy, he can please himself. It is letting new players, who are possibly our future, gel into the team.

To be fair, I think Remy has looked better alongside a striker, or more so coming in from the left. Consistency is a worry for Remy and it would stop me paying big money for him.

Are we to buy or loan a new striker who wants to be at the club and leave him on the bench to help a guy who doesn't want to stay at the club go and play at a world cup.

I must say about 90% of me agrees with mental. In an ideal situation, if he doesn't want to be here I would prefer him on the bench myself, if we got a new striker.

Not as a punishment, more as a way to prepar for a future without him.

However the 10% that is left is probably my more practical side! says we desperately need him on the pitch.

I would love this to change, or indeed for him to sign a proper contract, but at the moment I can't see it happening.

It depends entirely on what the manager deems is more likely to give us results in the matches. Do you disagree?

We dont get a new striker this window, there for Remy will keep playing all season.

EVEN if Cabaye and Remy doesnt want to be here next season, hopefully they will do their best to the very end, because of the World Cup.
And then, hopefully in the summer, we have more options on the transfer marked because we qualified for Europe next season. (a bit optimistic, I know)

Hopefully we could get Ba back for cheap money, and a paycut, if Chelski buys Diego Costa. Surely he would prefer to play every match, tha being 4-5 choice.

I agree with this.

Yes, it makes sense to develop those who are guaranteed to stay beyond the end of the season to help cope with their loss the next season, but Remy is a good player. He can do a decent job in an area we're under-resourced.
Why immediately replace him for a new player who has possibly been unproven at this level, when Remy has a very strong reason to perform this season?

In my view - for this season, we're paying his wages (or at least part of them), he's our player and an asset to the squad. Why should we discard him when we're already short of striking options?

Remy is leaving, cisse is on his way out and shola isn't going to get a new contract, that leaves gouff as our only striker so we are going to need at least 2 strikers in the summer who need to start the season at there best not settling into a new team.

If a player has already stated that he is leaving the club in the summer all he is caring about is going to the world cup, do you think he's still going to give his all and put his body on the line and risk injury.

Nick, it is up to the manager to decide what's best for the team and it all depends on what happens in training and on the pitch but Remy is hardly in startling form at the minute scoring 4 goals in the last 12 games, 2 of them coming against 9 man stoke so i would still start a new striker ahead of him

As I said, if results in the matches this season is the reason for dropping Remy, or picking him, that's fine. As long as it's not about punishing him, then I'm fine, whatever the manager decides.

Now cabaye is off remy won't be far behind.
