Pardew Punished: Stadium Ban, Touchline Ban and Fine

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been made an example of by the FA and handed a 3 game stadium ban and a 4 game touchline ban to run consecutively for the incident between him and David Meyler.

Pardew was sent off during the game against Hull City and fined £100,000 within hours of the incident, by Newcastle United. The FA charged him and after a personal hearing he was given his punishment. In addition to the bans he also has to pay the FA £60,000.

The official NUFC club statement read;

“The Club and Pardew have accepted the decision and now wish to draw a line under the matter.”

Pardew said:

“As I have made clear, I deeply regret the incident and again wholeheartedly apologise to all parties for my conduct, which I understand was not acceptable.

I will accept the punishment handed down by the FA today. My focus now turns to preparing the team for this weekend’s game against Fulham and finishing the season as strongly as possible.”

The ban starts on Saturday.

The punishment is the strongest ever handed out by the FA to a Premier League manager and isn't far off the 8 game ban former refereee Mark Halsey called for immediately after the incident.
