Should we already have secured Spurs and Arsenal target?

Already ours?

Every day appears to bring a new twist in the ongoing saga that is Loic Remy. Last week he seemed Arsenal bound, this week Spurs appear to be the favourites. But should the saga already be over?

Try and think back (if it’s not too painful) to the early Joe Kinnear days, when to all who would listen it was being trumpeted that uncle Joe had managed to convince the Frenchman to eventually join Newcastle, months after getting lost at the airport and accidentally mistaking QPR for Newcastle. (Hell I don’t know perhaps geography isn’t his strong point).

What should have been trumpeted of course was a permanent signing, or failing that an iron clad option to buy clause.

Either even assuming he would still want to leave to go to a club with a modicum of ability (and who can blame them) we would be due money, either in the form of a transfer fee, or compensation for breach of contract.

Instead we spend a reported 2 million, to secure a loan move, now I am not saying that was not money well spent, it probably kept us in the league, but it can’t be considered future planning.

Now remember this was the only money we spent, making us rock bottom of the spending league last season, and how that must of warmed their hearts, but now we find ourselves up a certain creak without a movement device.

Whether we get anyone in at all (striker I mean) remains to be seen, whether that player can then hit the premier league up and running also remains to be seen.

I would argue that if the job had been done right in the first place we would now be in a much better position.

I doubt he would have ever signed for us last season, he would ahve wanted to wait till after the world cup no matter what.

Then we shouldn't of just took a loan and spent to secure our future.
