Newcastle are set to return to Montpellier, this week to attempt to lure £12million-rated playmaker Remy Cabella.
An initial 7.5 million offer, fell way below Montpellier's valuation of the player and prompted their chairman Louis Nicollin, to take to the press to slam, what he saw as an ‘arrogant offer’.
Whether Newcastle will meet the 12 million asking price remains unlikely, but they remain confident that a deal can be done in the near future.
The previous history between the two clubs over Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa handing in a transfer request to push through a transfer to St James’ Park, has made relations strained to say the least, with Nicollin taking to the press on a regular basis to attack Newcastle.
He has been attempting, again through the press, to draw out offers, at what he sees as the player’s true valuation, for the past few weeks, however these attempts have failed and Newcastle remain firm favourites to capture the player.
