Bopara & Cook In England U19 Squad

Essex duo Ravinder Bopara and Alastair Cook have been selected for the England Under 19 squad to play a friendly against Kent's 2nd XI at the end of April/beginning of May.

It's great news for both men, especially Ravi Bopara, who is not only on the staff at Essex, but was in the England Under 19 party that toured Australia over the winter.
Alastair Cook is a classy opening left-handed bat who has been part of the Essex youth for a few years now. He can also keep wicket and is with Peter Such on the Essex Cricket Academy. He plays his club cricket for Maldon, a team who don't play in The Shepherd Neame League.
The match against Kent's 2nd XI is a 4-day friendly and will take place at the lovely Canterbury ground on Tuesday 29th April - Friday 2nd May, 2003.
The manager is Essex's own Graham Saville. The squad looks like this:
