Hull City 2-1 Town

Town conceded two late goals after taking the lead in the first half through Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to once again squander a winning position and place further pressure on under-fire boss Paul Jewell.

Stephen Henderson made his debut in goal with Scott Loach dropping to the bench, whilst Nigel Reo-Coker also made his bow for Town, replacing fellow midfielder Andy Drury who also dropped to the bench.

Hull dominated the early exchanges and the lack of confidence in the Town side was apparant for all to see, with Aaron Cresswell slicing the ball into his own penalty area early on, however Seyi Olofinjana was unable to keep his shot on target for the home side.

Despite being second best for the majority of the game with backs to the wall, Town were the side to break the deadlock 15 minutes before the interval. A great solo run from former Arsenal youngster Jay Emmanuel-Thomas saw the midfielder jink past two defenders before curling a shot in the net leaving former Man Utd keeper Ben Amos with no chance.

The goal seemed to inspire a little more confidence in Town and they could have doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time. Skipper Carlos Edwards sent a cross into the box which was met by Celtic loanee Daryl Murphy who could only send the ball just over the top of the Hull goal.

Town continued to look more threatening early int he second half with Lee Martin's volley being well saved by Amos just over five minutes into the second half and Reo-Coker also testing the home keeper on the hour mark after good work from fellow loanee Richie Wellens.

A golden chance presented itself half way through the second half. The impressive Emmanuel-Thomas completed a neat turn to put through DJ Campbell with a golden chance to score his second goal of his loan spell at the club. Campbell however only managed to slide the ball wide when through on goal with Amos being badly positioned.

As has often been the case this season, Town were made to pay. Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Elmohamady lost his marker, sending a cross to the near post of the Town goal where German striker Nick Proschwitz was on hand to fire the ball in to square the scores.

A point for Town would not have been a bad result on the balance of play, but that is a point that Town did not get as inside injury time the outstanding Elmohamady sent in a long cross which substitute Proschwitz nodded in to score his and Hull's second and seal all three points for the home side.

Despite the addition of a number of loan players, it was the same old story for Town, who failed to take chances when presented to them and crumbled at the back when placed under increasing pressure after Hull's first goal. Truth be told Town were very much second best and on the balance of play did not deserve to get anything out of the game.

However another defeat and the manner of the capitulation will do little to ease pressure on Town boss Paul Jewell, whose job must now surely be described as being very precarious with a number of supporters after the game making their point that it is time for a change.
