Ipswich Towns Michael Chopra celebrates scoring during the npower Football League Championship match

Striker who finally signed for Town for £1.5M from Cardiff City in the summer of 2011 after several attempts to bring the player to Portman Road failed in the previous two years.

The Newcastle born forward scored 58 goals in 132 league games for Cardiff who he initally joined from first club Newcastle United in 2006. In 2007 Chopra moved on to Sunderland, but was unable to hold down a first tem place. Chopra then spent time back at the Bluebirds on loan in 2008 and 2009 before returning permenantly to the Welsh club in the summer of 2009.

Netted 14 goals in his first season at Portman Road finishing as the club's top scorer despite having a number of problems off the field involving gambling.

Chopra is of mixed Indian and English descent and has represented England at Under 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and Under 21 levels.
