Reo-Coker: Players Need to Stand Up and be Counted

Town midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has called for his team-mates to stand up and be counted to get the club off the bottom of the Football League Championship table.

Town lost 5-0 yesterday evening to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a match which saw the home side be awarded three penalties in eleven minutes and former West Ham United midfielder Reo-Coker says that performances have to improve in the future.

Speaking to the Official Club website, Reo-Coker, who is at the club on a short term deal, said: “We all need to take responsibility for that performance and accept that it wasn’t good enough. It’s certainly not the level we know we can play at, so we need to ensure we don’t slip to that standard again.

“We weren’t good enough tonight and this is where we draw the line. We are not going to perform like that again and that performance stays here, we are not going to have that feeling in the dressing-room after a game again. This is up to the players, myself included, to stand up and be counted.

“We didn’t defend anywhere near well enough tonight and that is down to the players, no one else. We gifted Palace their five goals and you can’t expect not to get punished from it. But we’ve got a big game on Saturday and we need to make sure we bounce back from tonight with a good performance.”
