Hyam: Scoring an Incredible Feeling

Ipswich Town midfielder Luke Hyam marked his return to the first team with his first goal for the club, later describing the milestone as an incredible feeling.

The academy product scored Town's second goal in a 3-1 win for Town at Portman Road, following up a penalty from striker DJ Campbell that was saved. The result takes Town out of the relegation zone in the Npower Championship in a season which they have barely been out of the bottom three.

Prior to Hyam netting his first senior goal, N'Daw gave Town the lead on the half hour mark, with Forest managing to level the score through Dexter Blackstock just shy of the hour mark. The Blues secured all three points with just a minute to go thanks to a goal from sub Daryl Murphy.

Speaking about his pride of scoring his first goal for the club he supported as a kid, Hyam told the Official Club Website: “It was an incredible feeling for me (to score a first Town goal) and as you can see from my celebrations I lost my head a little bit!

"It was a great feeling personally and also really enjoyable to celebrate with the lads at getting the three points, which is the most important thing. All the boys worked extremely hard and I think our performance deserved the win tonight.

“It was nice to get a start and hopefully I have shown the manager what I can do. I want to play games and it’s important to take my chance when I get it.”
