Reo-Coker Turns Down New Deal

Ipswich Town midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has played his last game for the club after it was revealed he turned down a new contract until the end of the season at Portman Road.

Reo Coker signed a three month deal with the club in October last year with the deal due to expire after the weekend. The player was not included in today's squad for the trip to Cardiff, which gave rise to speculation that the player would not be staying at the club.

That speculation proved to be correct, with it being confirmed after the game that whilst Town offered the former West Ham United man a new deal until the end of the season, the player wanted a more longer term deal and therefore the player has left the club.

Confirming the news to the Official Club Website, Town boss Mick McCarthy said: "Nigel is not staying. Fair play to him, he came in suited and booted yesterday and ready to travel but he wants a longer term contract.

"I understand that. I think he may have some other offers. He’s been great but if he not going to stay then there was no point in him travelling.”
