Connor Delight at Middlesborough Thrashing

Town assistant boss Terry Connor was delighted to see his side thrash Middlesborough 4-0 at Portman Road and said absent ill boss Mick McCarthy was also.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Connor admitted: "It’s the first game he has missed in 20 odd years of being a manager but the result will have picked him up. I spoke to Mick after the game and he was delighted with the win and hopefully he will be back at work on Monday.

“He picked the team from the feedback I gave him during the week and then he left it with me. The icing on the cake for Mick will be Tommy, a centre-half, scoring two goals!

“It was a good performance and a good win. David McGoldrick’s goal was the key moment. There are fine lines in football. They had a chance early in the second-half that went wide and we went up the other end and David scores a terrific goal."
