Last Minute Blow

First try

Losing to a last minute kick is just about the most painful feeling in rugby - even if we can take heart from a better performance which probably deserved a win ..

Matthew Jarvis clinched a 26-24 win for Nottingham in the basement battle. That was after we had gone into an 11 point lead and we must work on how to close a game out once we get into the ascendency.

We took an early lead when Paul Tupai was pushed over but Notts came  came straight back and Burke’s kick was charged down allowing Joe Munro to score a softie.

We were 11-10 just before the break and sghould have put a big nail in the hoe side's coffin when  Nick Fenton-Wells went over to give us an 18-10 lead.

It got even better as the heavens opened and we extended the lead to 10 poimnts with a pen but Notts came back with a pen of their own and then a try from a line out by Calladine.

We missed a couple of shots of goap but it looked like we had secured the win when Pritchard accepted an easy penalty attempt from in front of the posts.

Sadly there was still time for Jarvis to have the final say.

Pirates next week. Need a win.
