Off To the Balmy North

Baldwin Back
By Blues Brother
March 6 2015

The Blues head up the A1 looking to complete the double over Yorkshire Carnegie. It's a pity the game isn't being played on Saturday when temperatures are expected to reach  16 or 17 degrees C. Instead it's a Sunday fixture when it's likely to feel more like March - breezy and nippy.

There's not a lot at stake for Bedford but we are turning out a strong outfit with Steffan Jones, Mike Le Bourgeois, Darryl Veenendaal, Paul Tupai and Hayden Thompson-Stringer all returning.,

Luke Baldwin is also back in the frame and he'll be on the bench.

Blues: 15. Steffan Jones 14. Pat Tapley 13. Mike Le Bourgeois 12. Viliami Hakalo11. Henry Staff 10. Baden Kerr 9. Darryl Veenendaal 1. Billy Moss 2. TJ Harris 3. James Currie 4. Mike Howard 5. Ben Gulliver 6. Paul Tupai 7. Nick Fenton-Wells (c) 8. Hayden Thompson-Stringer

Reps: 16. Charlie Clare 17. Camilo Parilli-Ocampo  18. Phil Boulton 19. Harry Wells 20. Josh Buggea 21. Luke Baldwin 22. Jake Sharp

I feel sorry for White as he has done nothing wrong in my opinion

Maybe he is not a favourite

Perhaps White needs a rest?

He is a young small player, having played quite a lot this season, which is his 1st in a professional league.

I think that looks like a very strong side. Maybe, just maybe we might sneak a win. Oh and blues brother I think you'll find it will be the M1.

So TryBlues you don't think DV needs a rest after the Worcester game?

Listened to the game on the radio: front row struggled until PB came on - should have scored a try at the end according to the commentator if we had known how to run forward and not lateral ?

Good points- it still appears clubs are frightened of us - continuing to wait for us to come to life and play well !!

You'd be slightly less upbeat if you had been there, Alan.

They were two poor sides - the only difference being that we were slightly poorer than them.

Could not agree more, what a shambles and a waste of a Sunday.

Your 14 was a quick sod though smiling smiley Scared the hell out of us fans every time he started galloping. But, luckily for us, he never had any support.

Still a Tyke - whatever the name!

Pat's a good prospect and has pace to burn I wish he'd back himself a bit more but that will come with experience. Your right Baldric, he did get isolated a few times.

I also thought Luke Baldwin and Jake Sharpe made a difference when they came on, pity they didn't start.

Anyway, any cunning plans? (bet you've heard that loads of times)

IB - "Shambles" well that's a word that keeps coming up isn't it..... This season is worse than last and it's not over yet, we could still go down.

We're 12 points ahead of Plymouth with 5 games to go I can't see us going down. Having said that our next 2 Pirates at home and Bristol away.
Pymouth's next 2 Yorshire at home and Pirates away.

Could be tight.

I think Plymouth will fancy their chances against those two sides. We have our work cut out and will be lucky to get anything from our two, going on current form and continual positional changes.

Completely agree, I think that's as good a match report as you'll get.

If you guys had played as you did in the first half against Wuss, I don't think there would've been any way back for us. In the end we nearly gifted you a draw by kicking that late penalty to the corner instead of the posts. An unbelievably naive decision by us and it would've served us right if you'd scored.

Both teams a shadow of their former selves. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
