Back On The Trail

Strugglers Ealing Trailfinders look to be the perfect opposition as we aim to bounce back after consecutive defeats - sadly it won't be that easy.

Ealing are fighting to stay in the league and need to widen the gap between themselves and Moseley at the bottom.

We were going so well until Rotherham and then Jersey tripped us up. Fortunately, we are still in third place but the pressure we were putting on Doncaster has evaporated somewhat.

So a maximum point haul is top of the agenda  whether we regain the form of early 2016 or not.

With that in  mind Mike Rayer is making a number of changes. Charlie Clare, Biyi Alo, Mike Howard and Justin Blanchet are up front with Henry Taylor, Myles Dorrian, Tom Griffiths and Piers O'Conor in tha backs.

Blues: 15. Piers O’Conor 14. Pat Tapley 13. Michael Le Bourgeois (captain) 12. Tom Griffiths 11. Dean Adamson 10. Myles Dorrian 9. Henry Taylor 1. Alex Lundberg 2. Charlie Clare 3. Biyi Alo 4. Joe Latta 5. Mike Howard 6. Justin Blanchet 7. Josh Buggea 8. Joel Conlon

Repsd: Sam James, Camilo Parilli-Ocampo, James Currie, Paul Tupai, Jordan Burns, Jake Sharp, Henry Staff

Badly missing Fenton-Wells at the breakdown, Blanchet has had an absolute shocker 1st half he must have missed 7 tackles at least, then drops the ball close to their line.

Hopefully we can't play anywhere near as bad 2nd half.

Good turnaround, by upping the tempo, keeping the ball and putting plenty of width on the ball to tire Ealing out.

12 points away from 5th and 20 points to play for.

First half was shocking, best forgotten. Bench made all the difference and Ealing had no answer. Burns and Sharp at 9 and 10 every time for me. Great try from Conlon, one of the best this season. Let's hope we get the starting 15 right for the cup game!

Wasted a rare great start, 2nd half took 10 mins to ignite then it was a matter of time. Missing NFW tackling. Toops and Mike Howard immense. Great win.

Poorest first half I have seen for a long time - changed the front row brought on Toops took off the fly half (who can't kick) and won the match - MOM Toops - he turned it round our 8 can't play without him.

Shocking first half performance from our pack only really improved when we made some changes, but perhaps equally importantly when Ealing did. Their front five were impressive early on but I wonder if their lowly position might be partly due to a lack of strength in depth. It was truly painful to see us getting bossed so comprehensively, losing our own scrums and lineouts and giving away so many penalties at the breakdown. Thank goodness it all changed so radically at half time to usher in a thrilling second half. Jake's kicking abilities must give him the edge for selection, surely?
