Pipped Again

If Irish are the stand-out team in the Championship then we can take heart from not being too far behind. In our two games so far we have given an excellent account of ourselves going down with a fight 21-13 at the Madesjki in the Championship Cup.

We are still getting to know that competition, but it provides competitive games of rugby and we enjoyed a fabulous finish when  we got to within one point of the league leaders.

We'd gone 5-0 ahead in the first half after just two minutes when Pat Tapley finished off a slick move. Irish came back to lead 14-8 but then Huw Worthington was driven over to make it 14-13.

All too play for with the clock counting down but it was Irish who got the winning score through winger Ben Loader.

Irish come to Goldington Road this week in the return fixture .. another opportunity to mark our credentials.
