Derby Day

What a Christmas cracker! Blues nip down to Ampthill looking to give their supporters the best possible present with a win over our neighbours who have done so well to get themselves into the Championship. (Saturday 1.30 kick off).

Blues go into the game as the form team but that matters little when it comes to derby games in front of big crowds. Blues have only lost one game so far and that was to the league leaders, while Ampthill are holding their onw having won three and lost three.

Usuual handful of changes as Blues maintain their squad rotation.

Alex Day and Loiuis Grimoldby swap places and in the pack Alex Woolford return from injury and he'll partner Jordan Onojaife at lock.

Ed Prowse will be looking forward to finally getting back on the pitch if he's called from the bench.

Blues: 15. Matt Worley, 14. Sean French, 13. Jamie Elliott, 12. Michael Le Bourgeois, 11. Dean Adamson, 10. Louis Grimoldby, 9. Alex Day (Capt); 1. Jamie Jack, 2. James Fish, 3. Bryan O’Connor, 4. Jordan Onojaife, 5. Alex Woolford, 6. Luke Frost, 7. Henry Pollock, 8. Joe Howard.

Reps: 16. Craig Wright, 17. Joey Conway, 18. Ed Prowse, 19. Robin Williams, 20. Kayde Sylvester, 21. Kieran Curran, 22. James Lennon, 23. Will Maisey.

The scrum was impressive and we also won a few turnovers, which is generally when we play our best rugby. We had to grind out the win.

Lineout wasn’t great in tricky conditions.

Pollock probably should have passed with his 60+ metre try as he was caught, but was given the try. He did play well although Howard was probably my Man of the Match again. I felt sometimes he could have passed as we missed an overlap.

Coventry will be interesting.
