Battle of the Giants will take place at the Shay between two team that have brought success to the Shaymen within the last 20 years. All proceeds will go to the HTST in their bid to get supporter representation on the Board of Directors.

Sunday 5th May - Battle of the Giants

This Sunday sees the biggest event in the short history of the Halifax Town Supporters' Trust when two past teams of the Shaymen go head to head in the 'Battle of the Giants'.

The great team from the Conference success in the 1997/98 season will be going head to head against the Northern Intermediate League winning side of 1985/86. And just in case you are unsure of the quality that will be on show I will flash through some of the battles we can expect on Sunday.

Phil Whitehead Vs Geoff Horsefield - Will Phil Whitehead be able to keep out the threat of Super Geoff that so many clubs in Division One have struggled to contain for the past few seasons?

Wayne Allison Vs Brian Kilcline - The big chief might be younger in years, but will he have the pace to get around Killer?

There are going to be some great battles in midfield.

Lee Richardson Vs Jamie Paterson - Both these players have a good strike on them, but will either of them be able to get on the score sheet?

Dean Martin Vs Kevin Hulme - Two midfield Generals who are not scared to get stuck in. It is only a friendly but there will be no love lost between these two.

George Mulhall is returning to the club to manage the Conference team and Gerry Brook will also return to manage the Youth team of 1985-86. Kieran O'Regan, Andy Thackeray, Billy Barr and Paul Fleming are just a few of the other players that will be making an appearance on the day.

Every single penny from the match will go towards the HTST whose main aim is to gain supporters' representation on the board of directors. This in turn will give the supporters more of a say in the running of the club because for too long in the past the fans views been ignored.

Please turn up for the match because it is vital that the HTST gets the support from the supporter of the Shaymen.

A Night to remember £25

A banquet with the players involving great food and entertainment at Berties Banqueting Rooms in Elland. It promises to be the best night-out of the year!
