Ex-Town Player Wins Top Award

Marc Lloyd-Williams, who played at the club in our first season back in the Football League has been named Player of the Year in the League of Wales.

He won the award after the 18 league managers nominated him because of his remarkable 47 goals this season for Bangor City.

Williams was signed on a free transfer by Kieran O'Regan from Bangor City. He had scored 45 goals for the League of Wales side during the 1997/98 season and joined the Shaymen on a trial basis.

After scoring 9 goals in 3 reserve games he was handed a contract.

He got his chance in the first team when Geoff Horsfield left for Fulham and immediately impressed with two goals on his debut in the 4-0 victory at high flying Scunthorpe United.

He moved onto York City, and the rumours were that he and Peter Butler did not see eye-to-eye, but, who did see eye-to-eye with Butler?

He is a prolific goal scorer, but never quite made the step up into the football league although while at the Shay he did receive a call up to the Welsh B International squad.

He is now in his fourth spell at Bangor City.
