Sox to sweat on decision.

The Blue Sox are unhappy about the Trustees wanting to stick to their arrangement with regards to the Shay Stadium redevelopment.

It was decided that when the Blue Sox left Thrum Hall to move to the Shay and ground share with the Shaymen, the money made on the sale of the old rugby ground would go to redeveloping the Shay Stadium.

The sale of Thrum Hall finally went through about a month ago, and suddenly, up popped another Inland Revenue bill for the Blue Sox.

The Sox are now wanting the Thrum Hall cash to go to paying off their debts rather than sticking to the agreement.

The Blue Sox have put added pressure onto the Trustees claiming that if they do not get the money to use on paying their debts, then Halifax's top flight Rugby League club will be no more.

You cannot blame the Blue Sox wanting the money to pay off their debts, but even if they do pay off this bill, who says that 6 months down the line they are not going to get another huge debt run up?

Who would save them that time?

Once again it brings us onto the Council who refuse to offer any help towards either club. The Shay Stadium is owned by the Council, and it is the biggest attraction to the Town being used by the two biggest sporting clubs in the Borough. But the MBC prefer to waste the money on other ideas and plans which drive people away from the Town rather than attract people.

The revenue that the East stand would bring in would be a massive boost to both clubs and the Council. But it is a shame that the bigwigs at the Town Hall and the Blue Sox cannot see this.
