Which Consortium Do You Back?

There has officially been two proposals passed onto the administrator Peter O'Hara, and his team. These proposals not only have to be passed by O'Hara but they also need to have the full blessing of the main creditor which happens to be the Inland Revenue.

The Adie Hall and David Cairns bid went in first, and even though it is expected to fall short of what the Inland Revenue are wanting, it does seem to have more backing than the Gameplan International group which ex-Chairman Bob Walker is involved with.

But which consortium do you hope get control of Halifax Town?

The Gamplan consortium have been quite reluctant to reveal any information, but they have been quoted as saying they are willing to invest a 7 figure sum into the club.

This is not the first time that the Town faithful have been fed promises which in time have not materialised. So what proof is there to show us that they will be different?

Peter O'Hara pulled their bluff saying the club needed investment quick. He said that if they were willing to pump in over a million pounds then surely they would be willing to inject £50,000 in the short term just to see the club through the summer. £50,000 is short change when an investment of over a million is promised, but of course there was no money put down on the table.

What could a millionaire possibly want with Halifax Town? Michael Lloyd, who is heading the consortium, is from Huddersfield. Nobody has heard of him before so the chances of him being a Halifax Town fan are very slim. So why does he want to take control of Halifax Town and the Stadium Redevelopment Company and in the near future the Halifax Blue Sox?

Even for the most trusting of fans, you have to feel slightly suspicious. It has already been said that the East stand once finished should bring in about £250,000 a season. Also, the Gameplan International company who are involved with the negotiations are a company that find prime commercial land for redevelopment. This surely gives they fans of both clubs cause for the alarm bells to ring.

Could there be a good side to the Gameplan consortium?

It is hard to find many positives about them. All would be well if they are serious about pumping money into the club to make it a success. But we had the same promises from Bob Walker who ironically is involved with this same consortium.

So, what about the other consortium?

I don't personally know too much about David Cairns or Adie Hall. But what I do know is that they are both Halifax through and though. They have been a part of the board of directors on off for the last decade seeing both sides of the coin from boardroom level.

They were part of the board when the club came out of the Conference in the 1997/98 season and they were part of the board that has just seen us relegated.

It is not sure what financial clout both of them have, but they do have some other businessmen with them. But their is no questioning their intentions. They want to see the club live.

When the club went into administration and the Chairman walked away, they were the only two that started trying to get something together to save the club.

A decision should be expected back from the Inland Revenue quite soon.
