Sam After Goals

Town striker Sam Parkin says he wants to score more goals next season then he did last but says there are more important things to worry about.

Parkin scored just five goals last season Town but did miss five months of the season with a broken ankle and still finished just two goals behind Nicky Forster who also missed a large part of last season with injuries.

He said: “I feel a lot more settled now in myself. It probably took a bit longer to settle than I thought and I was unhappy at the beginning of the season at what went on but that is all behind us now.

“I didn't score in pre-season and that hampered me but having said that I felt I scored some important goals and put in some good performances before the injury.

“Perhaps people were looking for someone to blame after our stuttering start but I'm determined to do everything in my power to make sure no one points a finger at me this season if things don't go well.

“It would have been nice to score but the main thing at this stage is gaining fitness and the important thing for me now is to get through the pre-season with a clean bill of health and be in the side for the first game of the season.”
