Town defender Fabian Wilnis says he wants to extend his stay at Portman Road beyond the end of this coming season.

Wilnis, 36 next month, is out of contract next summer but he wants to stay at Portman Road past that.

Wilnis: “I have the same appetite and the same desire as I have always had, I do not feel any older and have no thoughts about hanging up my boots.

“My diet is good and my fitness is good and I am looking to play a big part this season.

“With the club's financial situation there is unlikely to be many newcomers coming in.

“So it is vital that we bring on our talented youngsters. You cannot expect them to be consistent at their age, and this means that us older players must show extra responsibility.”
