Jim Keen On Petkov

Town manager Jim Magilton is keen on watching Bulgarian international Ivaylo Petkov in a game situation.

The 30-year-old defender has been on trial with Town this week and has done enough in his short time to be granted the chance of a return.

 

Town manager Jim Magilton: “The lad had 60 odd caps behind him for Bulgaria so he has some pedigree and he did well when he was with us, we're hoping to arrange a game so we can see him in a match situation. You can only tell so much in training and we would want to see him play before we consider anything else.

 

“He can play left back or on the left side of central defence and has certainly done enough for a second look.”

 

Petkov is a free agent after being released Turkish side Ankaragucu in the summer but interest in him as come from all over Europe with Celtic giving him a trial last week while Galatasaray, Hertha Berlin and Willem II are all reported to want him.
