On-loan Charlton Athletic midfielder Simon Walton has hinted that he will not extend his months stay at Portman Road.

The 18-year-old says he wants to push into the Charlton first team which is something he feels he can not do while at Portman road.

Walton: “I was told that Charlton coach Iain Dowie was in the stand, and hopefully I did enough to convince him that I deserve a first-team place in the Premiership.

“I will do my best to help Ipswich win two more games before I end my one-month loan.

“We showed flashes of how Ipswich can play in my first game against Hull the previous week, and it all came good against Rangers.

“I have had no doubts about the ability of the players at the club since I arrived and after this terrific display belief should now be installed.”
