Preview: Col U – Town

STB brings you team news, manager previews, the officials and betting odds ahead of Towns game against Colchester tomorrow (KO 7:45pm).

Town have only one certain absentee, that being Owen Garvan however there is doubts over the fitness of Simon Walton and Sylvain Legwinski although they along with Gavin Williams who will be under going surgery next week are included in the 18 man squad and Alex Bruce is back from suspension.

 

Town manager Jim Magilton: “It's a game that everyone is relishing, as a local derby. The place will be packed to the rafters and I'm sure the atmosphere will be very good.

 

“It's a sort of game that I loved playing in myself and my players are looking forward to it.

 

“We go into it full of confidence but we know it will be a tough game. Their crowd will get behind them and I'm sure George will have them fired up. We will have to match that, especially at the start of the game when the first 15 minutes is so important.”

 

Town squad: Dean Bowditch, Alex Bruce, Billy Clarke, Darren Currie, Jason De Vos, Daniel Harding, Alan Lee, Sylvain Legwinski, Jon Macken, Richard Naylor, Mark Noble, Lewis Price, Matt Richards, Luis Sito Castro, Shane Supple, Simon Walton, Gavin Williams, Fabian Wilnis.

 

Colchester are expected to name an unchanged squad with no new injuries.

 

Colchester manager Geraint Williams: “It's going to be a massive game for everyone concerned with the club, it's been a long time, 50 or 60 years I think, since we had a local derby with Ipswich so it should be a fantastic occasion.

 

“For me, I've got to take the emotion out of it and say, 'it's a home game we'll be looking to win.' But I've played in derby games at different clubs and you know that everyone will be fired up because it's so important to everybody involved.

 

“You just have to keep a cool head and perform on the night. So we'll prepare properly and look forward to what should be a great evening at Layer Road, under the lights and with a full house and the game televised live on Sky TV.”
