Bent Gets England Call

Former Town striker Darren Bent has been named in the England in place of Andy Johnson who is injured.

Bent was originally left out of Steve McClaren’s but Andy Johnson has been forced out of the squad with a hamstring injury.

 

The chances of Bent playing against either Macedonia or Croatia are slim as Wayne Rooney is back in the squad and Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe are included but if he does get on the pitch it will land Town £200,000.

 

England boss Steve McClaren: “We are fortunate that we are able to call up Darren from the under-21's.

 

“He has already got experience of being involved in several senior squads and he is a player with excellent ability and is a real goal threat.”
