Preview: Town – PNE

STB brings you team news, manager previews and betting odds ahead of Towns game against Preston tomorrow (KO 7:45pm).

Town have no new injury worries ahead of the game, but Gavin Williams and Owen Garvan are still out.

 

Town manager Jim Magilton: “Paul Simpson will have probably shown his players a video of our defeat and they will be relishing the trip here, we have to stand up and face them and show the character I know we have in the squad. I expect my players to rise to the occasion.

 

“It's vital that we start tonight's game well. We have not done that in our last two matches - at Colchester and on Saturday - and paid the price. When we have started the game at a good tempo, the results and performances have followed.

 

“And we will have to be at our best to get all three points against a side that is flying high near the top of the Championship.

 

“They are a team capable of scoring goals and in David Nugent they have one of the best players in the Championship.

 

“I didn't think he would be at Preston this year. I thought he would be in the Premiership because he has an ability that every side wants - he scores goals and consistently.”

Preston are with out striker Patrick Agyemang who has a hip problem, midfielder Alan McCormack is fit but has not travelled down.

 

Preston boss Paul Simpson: “They'll be looking for a reaction after a disappointing result at the weekend so we know we're going to have to be on our game again and carry on where we left off against Sunderland.

 

“It will have hurt their pride, I'm sure there'll be changes and they'll want to put on a better performance so we'll be focussed on what we want to do and make sure we're not the team that give them a lift.

 

“We're just going to go and play the way we want to play and hopefully get the right result.”
